KASSIA -ICCCI signs pact
BANGALORE, September 10, 2009:The Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA), Bangalore, on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the India-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCCI).

The pact is aimed at facilitating trade ties between the two countries. The Memorandum was signed by Sri M.C.Dinesh, President and Sri A.S.Joshi, Hon.General Secretary on behalf of KASSIA and Sri P.N.Ramachandran, Executive Director and Sri Jenny Zeliang, Addl. Director , India-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The MOU provides for joint ventures in both the countries, consultancy services, exchange of visits, publications and information between the two countries, conduct of international fairs and exhibitions. The MoU is valid for three years with the option to renew it thereafter. The agreement provides for a review once in six months to intensify the activities for mutual good. Presiding over the signing of the MoU, J. Crasta, President, FKCCI, described the MoU as a "watershed" in KASSIA’s diamond jubilee year. Mr. P.N. Ramachandran, said the MoU would pave the way for the collaboration of Indian expertise in engineering design with ‘Chinese supremacy in manufacturing,’ which would be mutually beneficial."



KASSIA is an Apex body of Small Industries of Karnataka started in the year 1949. It is playing a very active role in the promotion of small industries and also in the globalization of the MSE sector. KASSIA is also celebrating its Diamond Jubilee shortly in the current year.

The India-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCCI) in India is registered as a Society in the year 1940 and inaugurated by the Foreign Minister of China. Its main objective is promotion of mutually beneficial trade, commerce, economic, contacts, industrial collaboration, technology transfer, joint venture, investment, international exhibitions, seminars etc. The ICCCI is linked to the China council for promotion of International Trade through its network and services. It has entered into agreement of co-operation with a number of such bodies and with reciprocal response in all the cases. KASSIA and India China Chamber of Commerce & Industry have been having contact for the last few years which has got intensified very recently, thanks to the increased flow of trade between India and China and also the movement of delegations both ways during the last few years. The Trade on several commodities between India and China has also been witnessing speedy increase year after year.

Both the countries have realized that in the years to come as neighbrours, have to play a much more significant role in not only improving their economy but also extending help on promotion of trade with other countries. KASSIA realizes that there are lessons to learn from China in the matter of development and also benefits of trade promotion with China to improve the business of MSE sector. The reciprocal feelings from ICCCI evidenced by the initiative of this organization and its frequent contacts with KASSIA resulted in having a formal MOU for a closer contact through information, exchange on industry and trade promotion.

The MOU contains 10 clauses providing for exchange of publications by both the institutions, joint ventures in both the countries, consultancy services either way exchange visits between the two countries, information building on international fairs, exhibitions and other economic activities to be held in China and India and close rapport in the growth and spread of the SME sector for mutual improvement on trade promotion.(Mangalorean.com)
